Meeting Minutes
Please see the PTGO website above for the current Minutes.
Join a subcommittee:
- Membership/Nomination - Promotes family membership to the PTGO and helps ensure that there are candidates and/or volunteers to serve on the PTGO as officers and/or members of the executive committee.
- Fund-Raising - Helps organize and coordinate all aspects of fall and spring fund raisers. Assists with the collection of orders, cash and dispersement of goods and prizes. This subcommitte needs a lot of volunteers to help ensure that the fundraising process runs effectively. Parents with flexible schedules are needed!
- Cultural Arts - Parents do not need an arts background to serve on this committee! We need people with an interest in promoting arts programs within the school and between the school and the community.
- Technology - This committee helps review the technological needs of the school and makes recommendations to the PTGO concerning the purchase of computer hardware, software and appropriate accessories. Also maintains this website!
- Math - Parents with an interest in promoting math work together with the school community to enhance mathematics in school, after school, and through evening activities. Math Night at Cameron Park is GREAT! Please join us in continuing and expanding upon this worthwile fun tradition.
- Science/Environment - This committee works to increase student, parent and community awareness of local, national and international science and envionmental issues. An ongoing focus is the Cameron Park nature trail.
- Literacy/BookFair - Cameron Park's Media Center has been going through a major transformation. After an extensive inventory, it was discovered that about 40% of our collection needed replacement due to age. This is an ongoing work, and an intensive and expensive project! While our committee has been very successful in grant writing and fund raising, we need to step up both community and parental awareness of our needs for additional resources!
- Communication/PR/Newsletter - The heart of any healthy community is communication. Our newsletter informs our educational community of our accomplishments and our needs. We often include class notes from each grade level and we like to feature students' work in print. Positive public relations will spread the good news about our school through print media and television.
- Volunteer/Hospitality - Volunteers are crucial to our school. We need volunteers to read with students, tutor students, and help out with classroom and school wide activities. The Hospitality Committee helps organize teacher appreciation week, staff appreciation activities, and other simple ways to show our faculty and staff our support.
- Groundskeeping/Beautification - Last year, the Groundskeeping and Beautificaition committee organized a glorious Earth Day celebration. They have also planted numerous flowers on our grounds. Cameron Park has seasonal plant sales to raise money to support instructional materials and supplies for our students.
- SACS - help the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Reaffirmation process.
- Grants/CorporateSponsors - The Grants and Corporate Sponsors committee helps bring in resources that are critical to our school. Last year the cost of many field trips and instructional materials were supplemented through grants and sponsors. This is a committee looking for people who are interested in reaching out to funding organizations and corporations to communicate the needs of our school.
- Physical/Emotional Wellbeing - This committee supports the development of our students and faculty in the areas of self discipline and motivation. Cameron Park practices Restitution as a student behavior management strategy. There is a continual need to set both collective and individual goals, celebrate our accomplishments as a community, and recognize individual growth as an integral part of the education process.
- OCS Parent Leadership Council - attend monthly meetings and act as a liason between the PLC and Cameron Park; coordinate the Walk for Education.
- Retail Rewards/Boxtops - box top collection and remittance, Campbell's soup labels collection and remittance, coordinate the annual sign-up for Harris Teeter, Food Lion, Kroger and Target, help promote the collection of boxtops and the signup for grocery cards with the Cameron Park community.
