Welcome new Fourth Grade families for the 2011-2012 school year!

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to fourth grade at Cameron Park Elementary. Together we are going to make this a
super year. I have organized our year into themes that cover everything from North Carolina
to Electricity. I will make learning fun and exciting for your child. Please feel free to come by
school, write notes, or call me. My spare time is shared with my husband Gary and my daughter
Kasi.

IMPORTANT

Each Monday, please look for a brightly colored Weekly Update. This packet of your child’s work will be sent home each Monday and will include weekly work, school announcements, as well a weekly letter from me. If you have questions about anything included, please don’t hesitate to ask! It’s also available on line! Click below if your child has a hungry backpack that eats them!

Homework:

Monday through Thursday homework will be assigned.  Homework each night will include:

1. Math- Problems assigned from class
2. Reading-

Read choice book on level for 30 minutes/Write PIPS in planner

P= Personal Connection (Is there something in the book that you know about, have done or seen?)
I= Important Event (What is an important event happening in the part you are reading?)
P= Prediction (What do you think will happen next?)
S= Serious Question (What are you wondering about as you read?)

Supply List:

Do you want to get started on school supply shopping?  If so, here's a list of things you'll need for 4th grade:

• 1 package of notebook paper (we’ll share this all year)
• 3 Wirebound spiral notebooks
• 4 Glue sticks
• 3 packages of pencils (we'll keep in the cabinet to share all year)
• 3 High lighters

The following are wish list items I could use if you’d like to donate any of the following:

• gallon and quart zip lock baggies
• 35mm film containers and film
• hand sanitizer
• boxes of tissues
• baby wipes

About our Teacher: Mrs. Yvonne Wahlers

Hello everyone!  My name is Yvonne Wahlers.  This is my sixth year teaching at Cameron Park but this is my 23rd year in Orange County Schools.  I've taught at Central Elementary and Hillsborough Elementary.  I am married to Gary Wahlers and we have a beautiful daughter Kasi who is a freshman at UNC Chapel Hill. Teaching is my passion.  I love get to know your children and watch them soar!
