Greetings Red Wolf Family and
Visitors!
If you are currently a student or family
member, you already know that Cedar Ridge High School is an extremely
exciting place to be. If you are looking at this website for the first time
and are interested in finding out more about Cedar Ridge High School, you
have come to the right place. We are a dynamic, comprehensive high school
seeking to provide the highest quality educational experience for our
students. Our students consistently
perform above local, state, and national norms on standardized measures of
achievement, meeting “School of Distinction” status for the 2009-2010
school year.
More importantly, our students are outstanding learners and capable
leaders in the classroom and beyond.
Together with our faculty and staff, our students explore the
interactive nature of learning, seeking to apply what they learn to new and
interesting endeavors.
During the 2010-2011 school year, Cedar
Ridge High School was able to achieve a number of accolades due to the
collaboration of teachers, administrators, parents, students, and community
members, including the following:
Named a North Carolina Department of
Public Instruction School of
Distinction with an ABC composite score of 86.2%, the 2nd
highest in school history
Named a “High Growth” school by the North
Carolina Department of Public Instruction
Maintained our 10th grade
writing proficiency score to 82.1%, the third highest in school history
Maintained our graduation cohort rate to
87.8%, the 2nd highest in school history
Increased a school record number of
students enrolled in International Baccalaureate, Advanced Placement, and
Honors Courses
Reduced failure
rates at each grade level for the 5th consecutive year
Reduced suspension rates at each grade
level for the 6th consecutive year
Cedar Ridge High School is striving to
solidify itself as a Professional Learning Community, a powerful staff
development approach and a potent strategy for school change and
improvement. The literature on Professional Learning Communities consistently
gives attention to five attributes of such organizational
arrangements: supportive and shared
leadership, collective creativity, shared values and vision, supportive
conditions, and shared personal practice (DuFour,
R., DuFour, R., Eaker,
R., Many, T., Learning by Doing: A
Handbook for Professional Learning Communities at Work, 2006). At Cedar Ridge High School, we believe that the role and influence of
building effective Professional Learning Communities within the school
environment can positively impact student achievement and enhance rapport
between staff and students.

At
Cedar Ridge High School, we are proud of our student and faculty accomplishments.
We offer a wide variety of Honors and Advanced Placement courses, as well
as the International Baccalaureate Programme. We
also offer a wide range of opportunities for student success and encourage
all students to become actively involved in the school community. We offer
over 60 athletic, co- and extra-curricular activities, and our
student-athletes excel in all of these areas. From our 12 Conference Championships and
20 individual state championships to the 16 faculty members that have
earned National Board Certification, there is an amazing array of
accomplishments, both individually and collectively, of which our students,
faculty and community can be proud of.

We
know that to achieve our goal of becoming a North Carolina Honor School of
Excellence, we must also excel in our ability to communicate with our local
community. Within this website, you
will find a wide array of useful information about our school. As always, we encourage you to contact us
directly should you need specific information not contained on our website. You can also click here to view the CRHS brochure that
highlights our school.
