C. W. Stanford Middle School Media Center Mission Statement

The CWS Media Center exists to support teaching and learning across the curriculum in our school. Students, faculty and staff members, parents, and friends of our school may use our materials and facilities to enhance the educational experience and for the betterment of our school. The media specialists will seek to promote, inspire, and guide students toward a love of reading, a quest for knowledge, and a thirst for lifelong learning. The media specialists will provide leadership, expertise, and advocacy in the use of technology, print, and electronic resources.

 

About Mr. Roane

The media specialist at C. W. Stanford Middle School is Lee Roane. Mr. Roane has a Masters in Library and Information Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a Bachelor of Arts in drama from the University of Virginia. Mr. Roane comes to CWS after spending 28 years in photographic and audiovisual equipment sales. He is married to a high school administrator. In addition to facilitating teaching and learning at CWS, Mr. Roane enjoys bird, train, and star gazing. He is a member of the Astronomy Club of Alamance County, American Library Association, American Association of School Librarians, North Carolina School Library Media Association, North Carolina Technology In Education Society, North Carolina Association of Educators, and the Young Adult Library Services Association.

The mission of the library media program is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information. This mission is accomplished:

By providing intellectual and physical access to materials in all formats

By providing instruction to foster competence and stimulate interest in reading, viewing, and using information and ideas.

By working with other educators to design learning strategies to meet the needs of individual students.
