Essay Competition Winner
Congratulations to ECE fifth grader, Natalia, who submitted the winning essay in the National Pawn Mother's Day Essay competition. Natalia won a pair of diamond earrings to present to her mom for Mother's Day, a $100 gift card to keep for herself, and a $2500 check to present to Efland-Cheeks Elementary to support our school improvement plan. Natalia is in Ms. Anna Hines’ 5th grade class.
Way to go Natalia, your entire ECE family is very proud!
Lowes Toolbox for Education Grant

for Edible Garden Project
Congratulations to Cheryl Handy, ECE PTA President for procuring a $5000 Lowe's Toolbox grant from Lowe's Home Improvement. With these funds our edible garden project will be upgraded, expanded, and enhanced. A huge thank you to Cheryl for putting the time and effort into writing this grant for ECE!
Community Support for Literacy
A special thanks to the Altrusa Club of Chapel Hill for donating $2500 to our school for support of literacy initiatives. Community partners like the Altrusa Club make Efland-Cheeks a great place to learn and grow!
