Battle of the books is a voluntary reading program, for 4th and 5th graders. As a team, they read the entire book list, meeting weekly to discuss the books. In the spring, there is a tournament in which all the teams compete. Later there is an opportunity for students to be part of the county all star team and compete against teams from other county schools. If you would like to be a coach for your fourth of fifth grader’s team, let Mrs. McCue know! (732-6138 ext 45080) The new list for next year will be posted as soon as it had been decided!

The birthday book program celebrates birthdays and books. At the beginning of every year, student families who wish to participate, send in a $12.00 donation and the student chooses a book from a selection of brand new books. A bookplate with the student’s birthday and information on who has donated the book is placed inside the book. On the student’s birthday, their birthday is announced on the news show and they get to check out their book first. When they have finished reading the book, it comes back to the library and other children get the opportunity to read the book. In this way, birthdays are celebrated and the library’s collection is enhanced.
