Social Studies Department
The Orange High School Social Studies Department plays an active role in the lives of many of our OHS students. In order to graduate from OHS, all students must successfully complete three social studies courses. All three of the courses are offered as an honors or general class.
They are typically taken in the following order:
World History (9th grade)
Civics and Economics (10th grade)
United States History (11th grade).
In addition to the required courses, the Department offers Advanced Placement courses in United States History and European History, as well as a diverse number of elective classes including: Debate I, II, and III, Minority Studies, Psychology, and Global Issues.
While offering students a variety of talents and teaching styles in the classroom, the Social Studies Department supports the student body in a variety of extra-curricular activities including sponsorship of the following clubs:
- Afro-American Club
- Interact Club
- Junior Class Council
- Ladies of Style & Distinction
- Peace Club
